Charlton Announces $81,794 in Local Fire, Ambulance Grants
SPRINGFIELD - Rep. Alex Charlton (R-Springfield) announced today that five local fire and ambulance companies located in the 165th Legislative District have qualified to receive over $81,794 from a grant program administrated by the Pennsylvania Emergency Management Agency and Office of the State Fire Commissioner.
The following is a list of fire and ambulance companies located in District 165 with the amount of their grant awards:
  • Broomall Fire Company, $15,000.
  • Marple Township Ambulance Corps, $7,037.40.
  • Morton-Rutledge Fire Company, $24,149.
  • Radnor Fire Company of Wayne, $15,000 for fire services and $7,037.40 for EMS.
  • Springfield Fire Company, $13,570.48.
“These five fire and ambulance companies deserve every penny of this grant award,” said Charlton. “Their relentless dedication to serve our communities by putting their lives on the line day after day is something we can never fully repay them for. I’d like to personally thank our fire and ambulance companies for the sacrifice they make on a daily basis.”

The aforementioned grants require no tax dollars to fund these awards. The grants, issued by the Pennsylvania Emergency Management Agency and Office of the State Fire Commissioner, were created by the state Legislature.
Every emergency service organization that requests a grant award and follows appropriate requirements receives funding. Projects eligible for funding include construction or renovation of a fire or ambulance company facility, purchase or repair of equipment, training or reduction of existing debt.
